Femme ter Haar is a Dutch illustrator and artist, focusing mainly on narrative illustration, picture books and comics. Her atmospheric and poetic drawings offer a momentary glimpse into our inner lives, capturing small everyday moments as well as big feelings of loneliness, attachment and transience.
Femme holds a BA in illustration from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU). She has worked on commissions from
clients like the New York Times, de Volkskrant and Flow Magazine and has illustrated two childrens’ books: ‘Het Begint met een Droom’ (Gottmer, ‘22) and ‘Een ei voor kip kaat’ (Lannoo, ‘23). In 2021, she was one of the winners of the Fiep Westendorp Stimuleringsprijs for upcoming illustration talent. Femme is currently working on her first graphic novel ‘De Lege Ruimte’: a story about loss, loneliness and what it means to be human.
